The Beanery is a cafe and restaurant in Balanga City, Bataan offering coffee, espresso and non-espresso based beverages and pastries, as well as sandwiches, pastas and rice meals. It is the most frequented restaurant in the city because of the wide selection of food choices and they are particularly famous for their cakes and muffins.
Its cozy and classy interior, spacious dining areas and comfortable lounges make this cafe restaurant a favorite hang-out place in Balanga for friends and families who wish to relax over coffee and sweet pastries, or to celebrate special occasions with their favorite comfort food and dessert.

Whenever we would pass by Balanga City, we always make sure that we dine at The Beanery. It is an ideal place to have lunch or meryenda after visiting the Mount Samat National Shrine or Dambana ng Kagitingan (Shrine of Valor) on Mt. Samat before heading back to Manila.
We first tried The Beanery back in September 2013. We had the Chicken Cordon Blue and the Boneless Bangus. The cordon blue had a crispy crust but the chicken inside was tender and loaded with melted cheese. The bangus was huge! The tomato and salted egg topping really made this dish more savory.

The following month, we were again back in Bataan, but this time we were with our barkada for a weekend daytrip to Mt. Samat and Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar. We first visited Mt. Samat in the morning and went back to Balanga for lunch before proceeding to Las Casas Filipinas.

We tried some of their best sellers including the Fried Pork Belly. It was very crispy and flavorful. I enjoyed each bite of it with the atsara. One of our friends tried the Fried Chicken & Baked Mac.

Finally, we tried their famous desserts. I ordered their best-selling White Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake. I liked the combination of the sweet cherries and the light sour cream taste of the cheesecake. Together, they balance out their flavors resulting to a dessert that is not overwhelming to the palate.

They also have other cheesecakes available per slice or as a whole. We have seen several customers who bought boxes of cake, perhaps as pasalubong or as dessert at home.

Just like in Manila and other cities in the country, The Beanery also caters to students and professionals who prefer to work with their laptops in a coffee shop environment, with a mug of hot coffee or a glass of iced coffee or iced tea.
The coffee and dining culture in Balanga is very alive. This is perhaps what made an international chain of cafe decide to open a branch in Balanga. We are confident that The Beanery can very well compete.
