After almost a year after when we first visited the city of Batac, we are back this year to attend the Empanada Festival in celebration of Batac's fifth cityhood charter day. The festival is a gesture of BataqueƱo pride in their One-Town One-Product (OTOP), the Batac Empanada. Highlight of the festival is the Float and Street Dance Parade scheduled to take place every 23rd of June.
The parade started at 4:00pm featuring floats that depict the different steps in preparing the Batac Empanada. The float below depicts the gathering of eggs to be used as one of the ingredients in cooking the empanada.

Each float is then followed by street dancers dressed in orange & green costumes. Participants are students from the elementary and secondary schools of the city, as well as city folks from various barangays.
