Recipe: Oven-Cooked Ginanggang
A recent trip to Dipolog City in the province of Zamboanga del Norte introduced me to ginanggang, a snack made of saba banana, and a favorite among Filipinos in Visayas and Mindanao. Back in my hometown in Pasig City, I attempted to replicate the ginanggang we had as merienda along Dipolog's Sunset Boulevard. Ginanggang is traditionally cooked over charcoal, but in my version, I cooked it in an oven.
Ingredients
4 pcs. ripe saba bananas
margarine
brown or white sugar
Directions
1.) Peel the saba bananas and grill in (toaster) oven for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
2.) Remove the bananas from the oven and thinly brush with margarine.
3.) Sprinkle the bananas with brown or white sugar.
4.) Serve while hot on bamboo skewers or on a plate.
