Bacolod City: MassKara Festival 2012 | Streetdance Competition
BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental - We just couldn't believe that we finally made it this year to Bacolod City to witness one of the most lively and colorful festivals in the Philippines, the MassKara Festival.
Most festivals in the Philippines either observe a religious feast, showcase a local product, or commemorate a significant historical event. In contrary, MassKara Festival celebrates life itself - a life full of joy and resilience.
Now on its 33rd year, MassKara Festival has become one of the most famous Philippine festivals known all over the country and around the world. The festival made the world truly small. Don't be surprised if you bump on someone you know back home, standing with you in the crowd to watch the festival's streetdance competition.
With the colorful masks and costumes, MassKara Festival is a clear manifestation of Bacolod being the City of Smiles. It also illustrates the fun-loving nature of the Filipinos.
And it was indeed a FUN experience to immerse yourself in the sea of people dancing to the beat of festival's music and cheering to their favorite group performing in the streetdance competition.
Smile! There are many reasons to smile. That's what we learned in Bacolod. We smile because we are happy, we smile because we are loved. We smile because we are blessed, we smile because we appreciate. We smile to give comfort, we smile to comfort ourselves.
The Streetdance Competition is the highlight of the month-long MassKara Festival happening on the weekend nearest the 19th of October. So mark October 18-20, 2013 on your calendar for MassKara 2013 and we hope to see you in Bacolod next year.
