Main Street Restaurant is a casual dining restaurant specializing in Canadian cuisine. They are located at the Tuscany Private Estate, McKinley Hill in Taguig City.
Main Street Restaurant's menu showcases Canadian comfort food which are influenced by the diverse cuisine of Vancouver and Seattle, cities where restaurant co-owner, Adam Tan, used to live and spent the early years of his culinary profession.
Back in Manila, they decided to opened a restaurant which can offer authentic and high quality Canadian cuisine in a setting that incorporates interior designs typical of restaurants in Vancouver.
During our visit, we were able to sample some of Main Street's best-sellers and some of Adam's personal favorites.
Poutine |
Poutine (P155.00) is made with French fries topped with beef gravy and cheese curds, typically mozzarella cheese. No other dish can be more Canadian than the Poutine which is said to be the unofficial national dish of Canada. Many version of this dish can be found across Canada, but Main Street decided to stick to the classic. So, the best way to start your Canadian cuisine experience is with this dish.
Crabcakes |
The Crabcakes (P220.00) are one of the personal favorites of Adam. They are crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Fried to golden brown perfection but not oily at all. They are served with mango salsa which sweet and lightly tangy taste balances the flavor of the cakes.Vancouver is a coastal city with abundant supply of seafood.
Wagyu Cheeseburger |
Another personal favorite of Adam and also one of their best-sellers is the Wagyu Cheeseburger (P390.00). The patty is made with Kitayama Wagyu beef, locally sourced from Bukidnon, ensuring freshness and high quality of taste. To lock in the juices and flavor into the meat, the patty is not grilled but pan seared. Tomato relish and their special house sauce are then added for more flavor. It is then served with French fries or salad. This is so far the best Wagyu Cheeseburger we ever had!
Buttermilk Fried Chicken |
This dish wasn't originally on Main Street's menu but later turned to be one of their best-selling dishes. The Buttermilk Fried Chicken (P260.00) takes a long preparation starting with the brining of the chicken for eight hours. This process makes the chicken moister and juicier when cooked. They are then coated and fried until crispy. The buttermilk flavor gives this chicken a lightly creamy-buttery taste. It is then served with herbed rice and garlic cream sauce.
homemade ice cream |
We also got to sample three flavors of their homemade ice cream: Milk & Cookie, Smores, and Maple Bacon. The Maple Bacon had small bits of candied bacon, really interesting flavor. But our favorite is the Milk & Cookie.
Canadian cuisine is a great addition to the Metro Manila dining scene already saturated with American, Mediterranean, Chinese and Japanese cuisine. Main Street Restaurant does offer new flavors and fresh tastes that are neither tiring nor boring, but something that you will crave for and will want to have more of.
