Alchemy is a new bistro bar in Makati City located along Durban Street. It serves a wide array of international dishes including British, French and Italian cuisines, and options of salads to soups, burgers to steaks, and pasta to pizza. And of course, there's an extensive selection of both local and imported drinks. Most interesting are their cocktail concoctions.
The ground floor is a cozy and relaxing dining and drinking area where guests can enjoy live music performances over great food and drinks. Its floor to ceiling glass walls allow natural light into the space, creating a bright and lively atmosphere for casual dining and conversation. The dining area has a modern Gothic design with the basic black and various shades of violet as the dominating colors. Gargoyles and headless mannequins adds more mystery and character to the interior.

It's a place where you can just seat and relax with your friends and enjoying each other's company, says Tina Currie, Executive Chef and co-owner of Alchemy Bistro Bar. We met Tina during our visit had a great time talking about their restaurant. A graduate of Le Cordon Blue Culinary School, Tina shared with us some of her personal favorites and specialties which she personally prepared for us that day.

| Gnocchi |
Gnocchi a personal favorite of Tina and is one of their best sellers. There are very few restaurants in Manila offering this Italian dish. In fact, it was our first time to try gnocchi and we simply fell in love with it. The small round doughs are very tender, they almost melt in your mouth. They were served with cream-based sauce and topped with bacon and cheese. I think I was ready to die after eating this dish, it was that good!

| Baked Oysters |
Next to come was the Baked Oysters. According to Tina, the oysters they use are from Aklan. This alone instantly sold this dish. Aklan produces some of the best oysters that are famous around the world. We Filipinos should be proud of that. They are really huge! And the freshness can't be denied. The aroma was so tempting when it arrived on our table. They were perfectly baked. The cheese were melted and toasted to golden perfection. Underneath is the juicy and savory oyster.

| Italian-made Wood Fired Oven |
Alchemy's outdoor pizzeria features an Italian-made wood fired oven. They're the only restaurant in the area that has this kind of oven which makes their pizza very famous in their immediate neighborhood. Our neighbors just love our pizza, says Gordon Currie, co-owner of Alchemy and husband to Tina. On their way home, our regulars would pass by our pizzeria to grab a box or two of our pizzas.

| Margherita Pizza |
We sampled their Margherita Pizza. We love Margherita Pizza, you might have noticed by now that this is what we usually order for a pizza. It's a very simple pizza, and it's difficult to get wrong with making this pizza. We're glad to say that Alchemy did a good job with this pizza.
The rooftop serves as a venue for chill out sessions. The high tables and chairs are ideal for small groups enjoying a drink or two, while long tables and chairs offer a more relaxing space for bigger groups. At daytime, it is ideal for al fresco dining. Smoking is also allowed in this area.
The roof deck may also be rented for private parties or events. Set up of tables and chairs may be modified to suit the requirement of the guests.
At nighttime, the dining area on the ground floor transforms into a lounge with a more pronounced Gothic interior. The warm lights make for a cozy setting for more intimate dining and dinner conversations.
There are different themed events happening at the ground floor and at the roof deck. Live DJ performances are some of the highlights. Promos on drinks and food are regularly being offered as well.
Overall, Alchemy Bistro Bar is more than just a place for drinking and parties. It's also a restaurant that offers high-end dining experience through its delicious food offerings that unmatched in this area of Makati. It's slowly gaining popularity now among Filipinos and soon enough, it will become one of Makati's dining and party destinations.
