NiU by Vikings is a new upcale buffet restaurant which the Vikings Luxury Buffet Group has recently opened at the equally upscale, SM Aura Premier in Taguig City. For as low as P1,088 per person, NiU by Vikings promises to deliver an upscale buffet dining experience that is expected to match or even exceed the buffet dining experience offered by Manila's high-end hotels. Are Filipinos willing to pay a premium for an upscale buffet dining experience? Let's find out.

Elegant Interiors
Only the Best
To ensure that they can deliver their promise, they go for the best. State-of-the-art kitchen equipment are all imported including a gelato maker and a brick oven from Italy. Viking Group has invited world-class Chefs from around the world to work with Vikings Executive Chef Anton Abad in developing dishes for NiU, and in making sure that level of customer service is at par with international standards. Lastly, only the freshest and finest ingredients are used in their cooking.
NiU (pronounced nee-yooh) is an Old Norse word which means nine, a number very significant in Old Norse mythology. The Norse cosmos, for example, is divided into nine worlds.
Luxurious Function Rooms
There are three function rooms inside the restaurant. Two rooms can each fit ten guests, while one room can accommodate about 50 guests. These function rooms offer more intimate and private dining space for big groups of guests. Use of the function room is free of charge but is available on a first come first served basis.
Chic Music
Classic French, Italian and American music play at the background evoking Parisian cafe, Venetian square or turn of the century New York dining feel. Piano music also adds a more chic feel in the main dining hall.
Sympathique by Pink Martini
The line Je ne veux pas travailler, Je ne veux pas déjeuner from the French song Sympathique by Pink Martini was stuck in our head, such as feel good song.
Expansive Variety of Food
Consistent with other Vikings Luxury Buffet outlets, NiU by Vikings also exudes a wide selection of international dishes leveled-up by premium quality ingredients and world-class service. What's notable are the premium wines, international beer brands and cocktail drinks being included in the buffet. Here's what we had during our visit at NiU by Vikings.

Value for Money
At face value, P1,088 may be look expensive for a weekday lunch buffet, but with the high quality of food and the wide selection of dishes, plus the elegant ambiance and top notch customer service, you really get great value for your money. You can easily spend at least P750.00 for a decent lunch in an upscale casual dining restaurant, and double that amount at P1,500.00 for a buffet lunch in a high-end hotel. For the same, or even better quality of food and ambiance, dining at NiU by Vikings is absolutely a good deal.

Here are more photos of dishes served at NiU by Vikings during our visit. Some dishes are not included in the gallery, but it can serve as a guide as to what to expect at NiU. Note that Vikings Group regularly change some items on the menu to keep variety to their offerings, but some dishes in the Japanese, Chinese and Carving stations are always available.
