Flavors Restaurant, the casual all-day dining restaurant of Holiday Inn & Suites Makati, serves buffet and a la carte selection of local and international dishes set in a modern and relaxing, yet chic and sassy ambiance. On May 23-24 and May 30-31, Flavors Restaurant will be adding healthy culinary creations by singer-actress Rachel Alejandro and sister Chef Barni Alejandro-Rennebeck of The Sexy Chef into their lunch and dinner buffet offerings.
We were invited by Holiday Inn & Suites Makati to be among the first ones to sample some of the healthy dishes that The Sexy Chef will be including in the buffet spread of Flavors Restaurant. It was also a rare opportunity to meet the dynamic sisters behind The Sexy Chef.
We started our buffet experience by tasting the Coconut Chicken and Oat Soup. This dish definitely tasted like Arroz Caldo. The usual grain was substituted with oats. They also made use of coconut milk (gata) and added malunggay, red pepper and carrots to the dish. We are off to a healthy start.
This Cauliflower Couscous tricked me into thinking I was eating fried rice. Well in fact, it is made with durum wheat. Mixed with chopped nuts, carrots, cauliflowers and a dash of turmeric, and you have this hearty yet healthy meal.
I curiously tried their Quinoa Shrimp Fried Rice. The asparagus, shrimps, carrots and quinoa blended perfectly into an enticing meal. Quinoa seeds are protein-loaded and gluten free, making them a great alternative to cereals.
My favorite dish was the Baked Salmon with Spinach. The salmon was baked with a low-fat bechamel sauce made with reduced fat milk and topped with mozzarella cheese. It was perfectly cooked, juicy and tender. I’m definitely coming back for this dish.
Their creation of California Maki Pinwheels was not wrapped with Japanese rice, but with Walter sugar-free bread that has been rolled and flattened. I find it delectable without the feeling of fullness when eating the usual maki.
Raw Energy Nut Truffles is the sweet ending to this healthy meal. It has almonds, walnuts, cashews, raisins, coconut flakes and sweetened with raw honey.
Your experience at Flavors Restaurant should not end only here of course! There is still a wide variety of food offered at the buffet.
My husband ordered Chicken Noodles Soup. Definitely a hot meal that warms the heart. They also have beef noodles soup if you prefer a bolder taste. Beside the Noodles Station are the Grilling Station and the Carving Station.
I still tried their usual Maki Selections. Newly made with the fresh ingredients.
Craving for fresh leafy vegetable and fruits, their Salad Bar is waiting for you.
If you want soft and freshly baked breads, there's no other place to go but the Bread Station.
Craving for Filipino, head off to their rice and meal selections. There's Pizza and Pasta if you are looking for something Italian.
Finish off your buffet experience with their pastry selection, soft ice cream or halo-halo.
This is perhaps the healthiest and guiltless buffet dining experience we ever had. With dishes created by The Sexy Chef included in the spread, dining in a buffet restaurant has never become this so much sexy. Flavors Restaurant serves lunch Monday to Saturday 12:00nn to 3:00pm and Sunday from 11:30am to 3:30pm. Dinner is at 6:30pm to 10:30pm daily. Rate is P1,300++ per person.
