10 New Things to Experience at Marriott Cafe
It was almost a year ago when we first dined at Marriott Café, the all-day dining restaurant of Manila Marriott Hotel. In that short period of time, so many new things have been improved or added to the restaurant. In this article, we have listed down 10 new things that you can experience at Marriott Cafe.
01 Restaurant Interior
Marriott Cafe has undergone renovation to give its interior a more spacious, modern yet elegant feel. Tables are now well separated so that guests can enjoy more space to move around. Guests can also notice the newly installed food guides at every station such as the Create Your Own Pasta guide where guests can get ideas on how to better enjoy their pasta.
02 Halal Station
Great news for our Muslim friends and visitors. Marriott Cafe has recently received its Halal certification following a rigorous training and audit process conducted by the Department of Tourism in partnership with the Halal International Chamber of Commerce and Industries of the Philippines (HICCIP) and Crescent Rating, a Singapore-based halal accreditation body.
Being a Halal certified restaurant, this means that Marriott Cafe sources meat products only from Halal certified meat suppliers. Marriott also has a separate storage for Halal ingredients and a separate kitchen and utensils to cook Halal dishes. A dedicated team of chefs were also trained to handle Halal cooking methods.
03 Improved Filipino Station
Marriott Cafe improved the selection of dishes at its Filipino Station adding two of our most favorite Filipino soup dishes, the Beef Bulalo and the Sinigang.
There's also a wide selection of Filipino dishes available at the station such as Pinakbet, Adobo, Sweet and Sour Fish, as well as some of our well-loved street food such as Chicharon Bulaklak and Kwek-Kwek.
04 Laksa at the Noodle Station
At Marriott Cafe, you can have your noodles served in a broth or stir-fried. You start by choosing your noodles and mix in meat and vegetables. Then you choose your broth or the base sauce for your stir-fry noodles.
One of the newest offerings at the Noodles Station is the Laksa, a spicy noodle soup dish popular in Malaysia and Singapore. I had mine with egg noodles, shrimps, squid and crab.
05 Sustainable Seafood Station
Following the Sustainable Seafood Week event held last February which was participated by various hotels in the metro including Manila Marriott Hotel, which aims to promote the use of locally and ethically sourced seafood ingredients by hotels and restaurants, the Sustainable Seafood Station was added in the buffet to highlight the high quality seafood ingredients locally sourced in the Philippines.
We tried the mussels, the curacha (spanner crab) and the imbao (mangrove clams) which were cooked in garlic butter sauce and served fresh off-the-grill. A squeeze of lemon will add more magic to this seafood feast.
06 Gambas Station
Another new station that highlights locally harvested tiger prawns. You can choose between peeled or shelled tiger prawns and have them grilled in five different flavors: herb butter, garlic butter, roasted garlic, bourbon bbq, and cilantro pesto.
I tried the peeled tiger prawns grilled in a combination of garlic butter and cilantro basil. It was very flavorful and really calls for steamed rice.
07 U.S. Prime Ribeye Steak
One of the new highlights of Marriott Cafe is the U.S. Prime Ribeye Steak available at the Carving Station. You can have a thick or thin slice and have them grilled in your preferred doneness. We always prefer our steak medium-well.
08 Impressive Assortment of Sushi
Marriott Cafe has leveled up the choices at the Japanese Station. Most noticeable is the assortment of sushi. While most buffet restaurants offer only three, Marriot Cafe has five.
Here is our plate with beautifully arranged sushi of salmon, tuna, octopus, yellowtail (Japanese amberjack) and mackerel. It's not only the variety that is impressive, but the quality and freshness as well.
09 Crepe and Gelato
Marriott Cafe has 17 different gelato flavors as part of the Dessert Station. If you love their gelato as much as we do, then here is another reason to visit this section of the Dessert Station.
Marriott Cafe has recently added crepe in its lineup of dessert offerings. I had my crepe filled with fresh mango and paired with the Palawan Honey gelato. It's the best way to end the buffet...with a cup of coffee of course.
10 Discounted Buffet Vouchers
You can now experience Marriott Cafe over and over again by availing the Marriott Cafe Buffet Vouchers for only P1,100 nett. What's even cool is that the voucher is valid for both lunch and dinner. It is also a great gift idea for your friends and family. The Buffet Vouchers are available for sale at Marriott Cafe.
