April isn't over yet, and so we have more reasons to celebrate the Flavors of the Philippines. From April 17-21, 2017, Pan Pacific will be holding a special week-long Filipino-themed lunch buffet at the Pacific Lounge.
Entitled Cusina ni Lola (Grandma's Kitchen), the lunch buffet will be featuring heirloom Filipino dishes prepared by Filipino celebrity chef, restaurateur and author Chef Tatung Sarthou. Chef Tatung will use the traditional way of cooking various regional dishes, using traditional ingredients and methods. No shortcuts! Just the way our lolas did them in the past.
Some of the dishes that you must watch for are Lumpiang Sariwa, Lumpiang Shanghai, Kinilaw na Tanigue, Chicharon Bulaklak, Ensaladang Lato at Kamias, and Ensaladang Itlog na Maalat. There's also a Grilling Station where you can have Inihaw na Pusit, Bangus, Hipon and Tahong cooked a la minute.
I particularly loved the Pancit Palabok and the Bringhe. The Oxail Kare Kare tasted very authentic! We also got to try the Tinuktok from Bicol which is perfect with steamed rice. The Pinakbet was very flavorful as well. Don't forget to get your slice of Stuffed Rolled Lechon Belly and Crispy Pata.
The Soup Station is also one of the crowd's favorite. Guests can choose between Sinigang or Bulalo broth and mix in your choice of vegetables and meat. I had Pork Sinigang loaded with Kangkong, Sitaw, Talong and Siling Haba.
Finally for dessert, there's DIY Halo-Halo, various kakanin like Suman, Buko Pandan, Casava Cake, Tablea Biko, and a selection of fresh tropical fruits. For those who have a sweet tooth, there's Minatamis na Saging at Sago, as well as Leche Flan.
Join this festival of Filipino cuisine at the Pacific Lounge, located on the 21st floor of the Pan Pacific Manila. The lunch buffet is available from 12:00 nn to 1:30 pm. We recommend that you reserve a table by calling (02) 318-0788. You can also email them at fb.ppmnl@panpacific.com.
